Cronk Urleigh
Date made: 1830-1840
Artist: unknown artist
Description: “Cronk Urleigh was once a place of great importance, having been the scene of the out of door Parliament. Charles planted it thickly with trees, drained the fields and cleared the hedges; levelled the inequalities of the surface of the rough little meadows, and soon the little desert began to blossom as the rose. Years passed away before the Cronk became the lovely spot which attracted the admiration of all that passed by.” (Sarah Jametta Crigan, Memoir of Major Charles Crigan, MS 05336)
