Description: “During the herring season, not a boat will sail either on a Saturday or Sunday evening…on one Sunday evening of the last century, a tremendous gale destroyed many of the fishing boats. On this account they avoid going out on the Sabbath.” (The Duke of Rutland’s ‘Journal of a Tour through North and South Wales and the Isle of Man’ 1797, M 02435)
