Description: Placard reads, 'Stu Peters - 'Racism is a global issue''. This is a reference to Manx Radio presenter Stu Peters whose comments during a discussion programme led to his suspension and investigation over whether the comments were racist. Peters was later re-instated but the matter raised debate about how far freedom of speech is permitted in the 2020s.
Despite the two month Island lockdown and Government imposed social distancing guidelines, over 1,000 members of the Island’s community showed solidarity by attending the Black Lives Matter protest in Douglas on 9 June 2020.
