Notes: From IOM Times January 18, 1896. The High Bailiff of Douglas, Isle of Man at the presentation to Mr Bawden in recognition for his long services as Honorary Secretary of the Douglas Branch of The National Lifeboat Institution, referred to 'An Absence of Recognition' for the The Founder of the Lifeboat Institution: Sir William Hillary! He went on to say there is no tablet or monument in Westminster or St. Paul's Cathedral, London, England when 'The World at Large is so Vastley Indebted' He urged that an inscription were added to Lady Emma Hillary Vault at the church of St. George's, Douglas, Isle of Man. The inscription at the moment only mentions, Lady Hillary youngest child of Patrick Tobin of Middle, Isle of Man lamented wife of Sir William Hillary departed this life at Fort Anne, Douglas, 20th June 1845 aged 62.
