The Manx Museum recently had the gift of the remnants of the clock belonging to St. Matthew's Church; March 2, 1940

Publication date : 1940

Author or editor: unknown author

Notes: From Isle of Man Weekly Times, March 2, 1940; The Manx Museum recently had the gift of the remnants of the clock belonging to St. Matthew's Church, which had been housed in the belfry of the present church. The dial, pendulum and other interesting parts has gone but a few parts are left. It is commonly believed that St. Matthew's was the first church to be built in Douglas. The old documents prove that this is not so. Apparently there is a chapel shown in the Braddan registers of 1702-4 etc. In Douglas Churches scrapbook.
