Notes: Article in the Methodist Recorder, Christmas, 1875; On December, 24, 1761, a bad shipwreck occurred at Fleshwick Bay, on the west coast of the island. The vessel was on her way to Liverpool, when the storm burst upon her and drove her near the rocks. All was lost except one, Frederic Wilson, the chief mate on the ship. He was thrown bruised and stunned on the sand. Later after much walking he fell on the snow and on recovering he found himself in a clean, well-built cottage overlooking Poolvash Bay and belonging to a family called Kermode, with two grown-up children called William and Catherine. During Frederic's illness he and Catherine were thrown much together, later they married and set up home in Poolvash Bay etc. In Methodism scrapbook.
