Scope & Content: The author reports on Kirk Michael census information from 1901 and 1911, tabulating the numbers of those recorded as able to speak Manx by sex and by decade age spans. He stipulates possible reasons for discrepancies between individuals' recorded Manx knowledge in the two censuses and sets out some stories concerning individuals documented in these censuses. Two appendices contain details of Manx speakers in 1901 and 1911.
