Scope & Content: A file of papers and correspondence revolving around issues and matters concerning the House of Keys and legislative activities, along with that body's relationship with the Duke of Atholl; topics covered include: the Keys' opposition in 1780 to the Duke's Bill to Parliament, regarding the Atholls' rights on the Isle of Man; the announcement of the raising of the Royal Manx Fencibles in 1793; and the Duke's accusations, made in a speech at Tynwald in February 1824, that the Keys are to blame for the lack of progress concerning the High Road Bill, the Registry Bill and the Commutation of Tithes Bill, and the Keys' response to these charges; also present is a list of members of the Keys, appointed between 1752 and 1796; the majority of the papers are dated February 1824.
