Age 30, Desmond Wright is a farmer from Mouldsworth, near Chester, and is entered for both Junior and Senior races by Geoff Duke. In the 250 c.c. race he will ride the N.S.U. originally entered by Reg Armstrong for Alan Lyons.
Desmond began racing in 1953, and was placed third in his first event - a Clubman’s qualifying race at Rhydymwyn. A sixth place at Silverstone was followed by 17th position in the 1953 Junior Clubman’s race. Last year he was second in the Junior Clubman’s event making the record lap at 83.05 m.p.h. and took 17th position in the Junior Manx Grand Prix.
