Age 45, Joe Glazebrook is a motor cycle engineer from Northampton. He has considerable racing experience, having ridden short circuits at home and in Ireland, and over the Island course for many years. Joe was first in 1948 Clubman’s race at Blandford, and he also won the Grand Open Handicap in the North-West “200.” In 1946, ’47, and ’48 he rode in six M.G.P’s and finished in five of them.
In 1948 he was 21st in the Junior Manx and 22nd in the Senior. The following year he turned to the T.T. and rode a Triumph in the Senior, finishing 34th at 70.39 m.p.h. after an ignition fault had developed. He started the 1950 season well by winning the General Handicap of the Leinster “200” on an A.J.S. and running second to John Lockett in the 350 c.c. class.
He came third in the same class of the North-West “200” at 77.21 m.p.h. In the Island he had to retire after completing two laps of the Junior T.T., but was 54th in the Senior on a Triumph. Back to Ireland for the Munster “100,” he finished third on an A.J.S. in the 350 c.c. class, and in the Ulster Grand Prix he averaged 84.40 m.p.h. in the Junior to finish eleventh.
He retired in the second lap of the 1952 Junior T.T., but was 36th in the Senior, on a Norton, winning Bronze Replica. In 1953 he was 27th in the Junior, on an A.J.S., gaining a Silver Replica, and 22nd in the Senior, on a Norton, adding a “bronze” to the collection.
He had two more finishes to his credit in 1954 – 41st in the Junior and 34th in the Senior – gaining a Bronze Replica in each race. In 1955 he retired in the Junior T.T., but was 41st, on a Norton, in the Senior race.
He again competed in the T.T. series last year and won a Bronze Replica for 38th place in the Senior T.T., but, his 39th place in the Junior was just outside Replica time.
Hobby: Piano accordion.

He did not race in the Island in 1958, but in 1959 he had three "goes" - 350 c.c. Formula 1 race (11th), Junior T.T. (44th) and Senior T.T. (retired third lap). Last year he came home 52nd in the Junior T.T. and 39th in the Senior, with a couple of Finishers' Awards. (TT Special, 12 June 1961, p. 26)
