Biography: Age 25, Brian Purslow comes from Shrewsbury. He first rode in the International TT in 1953, but he had already shown his form on the TT course. He came into the lime-light when, in 1951, he took the lead in the Junior Clubman's TT on his BSA at half distance and held it to the end to win at the then record speed of 73.35 mph. In the 1952 Manx Grand Prix he finished 18th in the Senior race on an Earles BSA at 82.20 mph. Turning to the TT in 1953 he was 11th, on an MV in the Lightweight race, but retired in the Junior. In 1954 he rode in four TT races. He retired in the Junior and Senior but finished 15th in Lightweight 205 on a Norton and sixth in the 125 on an MV. He did not ride in the TT in 1955 or 56, but was back again last year finishing 26th in the Junior and winning a Silver Replica. He is entered by F. Purslow of Shrewsbury.
