Rushen Camp internee-made blotter

Description: A handmade blotter made of thick brown card with blue leather stitching on the edges. The blotter is made of three parts hinged together with a central blotter section, a side panel with two compartments and a small side panel or flap. The blotter has a handmade gift label with 'Frohliche Weihmachten' and a drawing of a decorated Christmas tree and 'With love & best wishes your friend Maria'. The blotter was made by a civilian internee in the Rushen Internment Camp during the Second World War and given to Kathleen Jones as a Christmas present.
The blotter belonged to the donor's aunt, Kathleen Jones, who worked in the Rushen Internment camp as a Manx civilian worker in camp administration.
